If you've ever pondered the idea of transforming the look of a synthetic wig, we've got a treat for you. Today, we're diving deep into a step-by-step guide, showcasing how to switch up a wig's style safely and effectively.
Meet Alyna
In this video, our wig Alyna set out to revamp her look, not for the first or second time, but for the fourth! The goal of this exercise? To show how wigs can be versatile and imitate a wide range of styles.
The Process
Getting Started: Before you dive in, ensure your wig is tangle-free for the best results. Now, while we won't directly recommend trying this at home, if you're feeling adventurous and decide to take the plunge, always prioritize safety.
Tools You'll Need: The video demo utilized a wig stand set up in a bathtub, a wide-toothed comb, fabric scrunchies, and a pot filled with boiling water. Starting the braiding around ear level offers a controlled curl, but if voluminous waves are more your style, commence the braiding a bit higher.
The Braiding Technique: It's vital to remember this process is customizable. Your braid's thickness, for instance, will influence the final look. Opt for thicker braids for more relaxed waves and thinner ones for tighter curls.
The Hot Water Method: If preserving the original shape of the bangs is the plan, simply dip the braids into hot water. Our Alyna, in the video, needed a slight touch-up on her bangs, so while they were straightened, the rest of her wig was treated to those gorgeous curls.
⚠️ Safety Pointers:
-
Never touch a wig soaked in hot water with your bare hands. Always use an appropriate tool to retrieve it.
-
Keep a towel close by to place the wig on, allowing it to cool.
💡 Pro Tip: Limit the wig's immersion in hot water to a maximum of 2 minutes.
The Grand Result
By the end of this process, Alyna was flaunting a wig fit for royalty – those soft, cascading curls were clear evidence of the wig's quality.
We opted for Alyna for this demo, not just because of her charm but because we believe in rigorous testing before our wigs find their way to our store.
